Knee Pain

Non-Surgical Knee Arthritis Treatment Options

Knee arthritis is one of the most common causes of chronic pain, stiffness, and loss of mobility. Many people struggle with knee pain that makes it hard to walk, exercise, work, or enjoy everyday activities. While medications, physical therapy, and bracing can help, they are not always enough. At Interventional Pain Specialists of Wisconsin, we offer a full range of treatments designed to reduce pain, improve movement, and help patients delay—or in some cases avoid—knee replacement surgery.

We provide traditional knee injections, including corticosteroid injections, which can help reduce inflammation and pain during arthritis flare-ups. In addition to these standard treatments, we offer regenerative medicine options that use a patient’s own biological materials to support healing. These include platelet-rich plasma (PRP), bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC)—which contains a patient’s own stem cells—and, in select cases, adipose (fat) tissue transfer. These treatments are designed to decrease inflammation, improve joint function, and help rejuvenate worn or damaged knee joints, possibly delaying or replacing surgery.

For patients with ongoing knee pain, we also offer advanced nerve-based treatments. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of the genicular nerves can reduce knee pain by safely turning off pain signals from the knee joint. This procedure may help some patients delay or avoid knee replacement surgery. It can also be helpful for patients who continue to have knee pain after a knee replacement. Another option is peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS) of the genicular nerves, which uses a small implanted device to gently block pain signals over time without damaging the nerve.

Our goal is to offer image guided-personalized, non-surgical solutions whenever possible. By combining traditional treatments, regenerative therapies, and advanced nerve procedures, we work with each patient to find the best path forward—helping them move more comfortably, stay active, and get back to living life on their terms.
